Professional Grooming Services
BELOW IS A SELECTION OF FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS WHICH YOU MAY FIND HELPFUL WHEN CONSIDERING HAVING YOUR FAITHFUL FRIEND GROOMED.
Q: How long will my dogs grooming take?
A: This depends on each individual dog and coat, being condition and coat type, age of your pet, temperament, breed and style required. Upon my initial visit I can have a good understanding what is required and will always take the time when grooming the dog to go at their pace as I have the welfare of the dog at heart and want to make it an enjoyable experience.
Q: How much will it cost?
A: This depends on the size of the dog and coat condition and how long it will take, a price will be given on my initial visit, however if for some reason a problem is encountered and the clip is going to take longer than first predicated due to excessive knotting, or behaviour problems the owner will be informed that there may be an additional cost due to the additional time taken.
Q: Do you sedate any of the dogs that you groom?
A: No I do not sedate any animal within my care under any situation. Only a veterinarian can prescribe any necessary drugs, I will sometimes recommend a client seeks veterinary advice if an animal cannot be groomed due to behaviour problems, this is for their safety and mine.
Q: Will my dog be muzzled?
A: I personally like to build a trust between groomer and dog, I very seldom find it necessary to muzzle a dog, however where a dog shows signs of aggression or attempts to bite/lick the clippers or scissors it will be muzzled for both the dogs safety and mine.
Q: Can I stay with my dog?
A: Most dogs behave much better without their owners to distract them. I am more than happy to show you around the premises. Within my terms and conditions I do not allow owners to stay with their dogs during the grooming process.
Q: Will my dog be put in a cage
A: I only take one dog in at a time for grooming, however on occasion the dog will be put in a cage holding pen of which pictures can be seen on this website, cages are safe and comfortable and can give that well earned rest between the grooming process.
Q: Does grooming include nails and anal glands?
A: There will be an additional charge for nails and will only be carried out if the animal does not become aggressive or stressed. Anal Glands can be emptied on request; however I would recommend that you seek veterinarian attention as majority of dogs go through their lives without experiencing any problems with their anal glands. There could be an underlying reason for anal glands to continually become full and irritated
Q: What shampoos and conditioners do you use?
A: At Pawfection I only use the top quality salon professional products. A different variety of shampoos are stocked including hypoallergenic containing natural ingredients together with medicated shampoos and conditioners. If your dog has any skin conditions requiring a veterinary prescription shampoo I will be pleased to use the shampoo supplied.
